Twenty-five passengers of a minivan and a pickup truck were killed when the vehicles collided head-on into each other at Chonburi's Banbueng district today.

According to the Banbueng District Police chief Col Dussadee Kunchon Na Ayutthaya, the accident which caused both vehicles to be engulfed in flames upon impact occured at 2pm (local time).

"The dead comprised 14 passengers of the minivan and 11 people inside the pickup truck," he told the media today.

Only two passengers, one each from the two vehicles, survived and both of them were currently receiving treatment at Banbueng's district hospital he said.

All bodies of the victims, some charred beyond recognition, were taken to the same hospital for post-mortem before being released to the respective families for burial purposes, he added. - BERNAMA
