ACTION blockbuster "Jason Bourne" blew other films out of the water this weekend, with measurement company comScore recording a weekend box office estimate of US$110.1 million for the film, from data collected as of Sunday, July 31.

According to figures, the latest instalment of the action franchise featuring a returning Matt Damon, was the number one film at the international box office and, notably, also posted the biggest international opening weekend of all the Bourne films.

Universal's "Secret Life Of Pets" brought in US$47.7 million, followed by sci-fi blockbuster "Star Trek Beyond" which drew US$37.0 million from movie-goers, with 20th Century Fox's animated movie "Ice Age: Collision Course" and Jet-Li starring, China fantasy-action movie "League of Gods" both earning US$30 million this weekend internationally, and rounding out the top five.

Commenting on the success of "Jason Bourne", comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian said: "Universal's 'Jason Bourne' proved that Matt Damon in his return to the franchise was an irresistible draw in 46 international markets."
