The telefilm 'Miang Buluh Keladi Birah' directed by Badaruddin Azmi (Bade) won best film at the P. Ramlee Awards Ceremony.

Inspired from the song 'Tanya Sama Hati' composed by legendary artiste Tan Sri P. Ramlee, the telefilm which focused on the love affairs of the young in a challenging modern world, took home a trophy and cash RM10,000 as Best Work.

Bade also won the best director category which also came with a trophy and cash RM10,000.

The Best Male Actor and Best Male Actress were won by Beto Kusyairy and Sharifah Amani through the telefilm 'Selagi Cinta Berzikir'.

Also present at the ceremony was Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek. The ceremony was aired live on TV1 from Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya, Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Malay Acting Figure Award went to Datuk Aziz Satar and the late S. Samsuddin in remembrance of their contributions in also boosting the national arts industry with Tan Sri P. Ramlee.

Among the actors who also won awards were Mislina Mustafa (Best Supporting Actress); Hanis Kamal Bakar (Best Supporting Male Actor); Marjan Hananie (Best Script); Bob Fitri (Best Videography) and Datuk Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar (Best Special Appearance).

The P. Ramlee Awards organised by Radio Television Malaysia ((RTM), Utusan Group with the cooperation of Suhan Movies & Trading Sdn Bhd was held for the first time to recognise 10 telefilms based on the treatments of lyrics and title of songs by the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee.

The selections of best telefilms for the P. Ramlee Awards from 10 telefilms which were shown through the slot 'Tribute P.Ramlee' on TV1 was made after evaluation by professional jury and audience voting.

Ten other telefilms which also took part were Tunggu Sekejap directed by Along Kamaruddin; Getaran Jiwa (Michael Ang); Miang Buloh Keladi Birah (Bade Hj Azmi); Di Mana Kan Ku Cari Ganti (Osman Ali); Siapa Tipu Siapa (Aziz M. Osman); Jodoh Kita (Ismail Yaacob); Titisan Kasih (Rashid Sibir); Pelamin Di Pusara (Murali Abdullah); Hanya Dikau (Amie Maziah) and Selagi Cinta Berzikir (Erma Fatima).
