THE first trailer has landed for the big screen adaptation of James Patterson's "Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life".

When the prolific Patterson isn't plotting serial killer stories, he's busy writing books aimed at teens and young adults and one of the funniest is about to hit cinema screens staring Griffin Gluck and Thomas Barbusca.

Directed by Steve Carr, the film, pitched as "Home Alone" meets "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", sees repressed children decide to fight back against their bossy teachers by actively breaking every written rule in the middle school.

The film hits US cinema screens on October 7 but you can catch the trailer below.
