Thirty seven areas in the west coast of the Peninsular Malaysia recorded moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as at 11 am today.

According to the Department of Environment's (DOE) website, the situation was recorded in two locations in Sarawak, in Kuching (45) and Sarikei (42).

Moderate API readings were also recorded in Perak at Kampung Air Putih in Taiping (72), SK Jalan Pegoh (65) and Seri Manjung (65), while Kangar, Perlis (70).

In Selangor, the moderate API readings were recorded in Port Klang (80), Shah Alam (73), Petaling Jaya (64) and Kuala Selangor (63), while Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur (64).

Meanwhile, 13 areas in the country recorded good API readings.

An API reading of between 0 and 50 is good; 51 and 100 (moderate); 101 and 200 (unhealthy); 201 and 300 (very unhealthy); and more than 301 (hazardous).
