The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has arrested 39 individuals and remanded 18 of them for violating the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) standard operating procedure (SOP).

According to Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, 21 individuals were also issued compounds for the same offence.

"Everyone is reminded to abide by the SOP and the rules that have been set. Cooperation and self-control is crucial in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic," he told a media conference here on Saturday.

On the other hand, Ismail Sabri said that there were still a number of people who were trying to travel interstate without a valid reason.

"Yesterday, 1,613 vehicles attempting to travel interstate with an intention to go back to the village were ordered to turn around by the PDRM compared to 2,539 vehicles the day before.

"The states that recorded the highest cross-border attempts to return to villages are Selangor (329), Kedah (211) and Penang (196)," he added.

Ismail Sabri stressed that the PDRM would not compromise and would take stern action against anyone who tried to cross state borders without permission, including issuance of compounds.
