Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad is reportedly stable after he was assaulted by a group of men early this morning.

The PAS central committee member said, he has been examined at the hospital and is grateful to not suffer any serious injuries.

“Alhamdulillah, everything’s okay, x-rays have shown that there’s no fracture on my face.

“I’m very grateful that nothing serious happened, so don’t worry,” he told Astro AWANI when contacted today.
Dr Dzulkefly was reportedly beaten and punched on the face and forehead by a group of unidentified men in front of his house in Shah Alam.

He was returning from Subuh prayers when the attack happened, causing a split lip and swelling to the head.

A news portal reported that the assault might be connected to Dr Dzulkefly’s criticism on the cooperation between the ulama and professionals within PAS. He was claimed to have said that he had “lost respect” towards some ulama whom were seen bickering amongst themselves by using harsh words during the Multaqa Ulama Se-Malaysia II that was held by the PAS Ulama Council last Feb 21.

Meanwhile, Dr Dzulkefly said the police had just left his residence after taking his statement on the assault incident.

“The police promised that they will investigate this case,” he said.

Earlier, PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kayat, on his Facebook page, expressed regret over the attack on Dr Dzulkefly.

The assault this morning is the second unfortunate incident to befall PAS leaders within a month. On Feb 14, there was an attempt to torch Kuala Krai MP Dr Hatta Ramli’s car in front of his house in Hulu Klang. Luckily, a security guard noticed the incident and the fire was put out immediately.
