Astro AWANI, the nation’s 24-hour news television channel, has been ranked first in the Most Trusted News Brands in Malaysia based on the Annual Review of the Reuters Digital News Studies Institute 2020.

It was followed by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) in second and The Star in third.

"Astro AWANI stands at the forefront of the most trusted news brand, which also highlights critical approaches to the discussion of news and current affairs," the report added.

However, the report also said that overall confidence in the media world was at its lowest in the survey, with 25 per cent of respondents believing in the news most of the time.

Meanwhile, for the weekly offline and online reach, Astro AWANI came in second behind TV3 for the television, radio and print media categories.

Harian Metro and Berita Harian are in third and fourth places respectively.

In the Online Brands category, Astro AWANI Online came second behind Malaysiakini, followed by The Star Online in third place and Berita Harian Online fourth.

In 2019, Astro AWANI was ranked second for the Most Trusted News Brands in Malaysia while for 2018, Astro AWANI was in the top spot, according to Reuters Digital News Report.

In the Online Brands category, Astro AWANI Online came second behind Malaysiakini.
