The Pahang Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) is on the lookout for a crocodile which is believed to have emerged from Sungai Pahang, near Kampung Kelola, Pulau Tawar, Jerantut, since two days ago.

Pahang Perhilitan director Ahmad Azhar Mohammed said the department's personnel had inspected the river when news on the crocodile's sighting went viral on social media but had yet to find it.

"We also received reports yesterday evening on damaged fish cages. We went to the scene this morning but could not ascertain if the culprit was a crocodile, or other animals such as otters," he said when contacted, here, today.

He said villagers claimed the crocodile was seen after the flood early last year, and to date, its presence was only proven via photograph taken when the creature emerged at a river bank.

Meanwhile, he said, signboards would be put up in the area to alert the public and avert any untoward incident.
