The villager who discovered the burnt car in Hutan Melintang, claimed that the car was still burning when he stumbled upon it Saturday morning.

Nasrowi Maslah, 45, said he was on his way to have a drink with his friend around 7am when he made the find at a palm oil plantation.

He proceeded to snap two photos of the car before alerting the matter to the police.

"The car was still burning when I found it. I took the photos, in case if no one else was around the area at the time. But the car was badly charred when I came across it," he said when met at the location in Kampung Sungai Samak here today.

Meanwhile, a Hilir Perak district police source said, authorities have been trying to identify the make and model of the car, since it was discovered more than 24 hours ago.

"The car has been declared a 'total loss'. The vehicle is currently with the police forensics team," the source said, adding that the team comprises two officers and three members from the Perak police contingent.

Earlier, it was reported that the burned car was discovered at 10am today.

Hilir Perak OCPD, ACP Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain had said police were still investigating if the car is linked to the missing person case of deputy public prosecutor, Kevin Anthony Morais.

Morais, who is attached with the Attorney-General Chambers had been reported missing by family members on Friday afternoon.
