A man with the title, 'Datuk Seri', is being remanded for four days from today over the assault of three Rela (People's Volunteer Corps) members while on duty at a temple in Kampung Baru Ampang, last Friday.

The order for remand until Nov 3 was issued by magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali today after allowing the application from the police to remand the 29-year-old man.

He is being remanded to assist in the investigation under Section 186 of the Penal Code for preventing public servants from carrying out their duties and under Section 353 for using criminal force to cause fear to the public servants from carrying out their duties.

The man, clad in a white shirt, had arrived at the Ampang Magistrate's Court at 9.30am and at 10.50am, he was accompanied by police into the courtroom for the remand proceeding.

The 'Datuk Seri' was arrested at 4pm yesterday after surrendering himself at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters.

In the 6.30am incident last Friday, the three Rela members, aged 19, 27 and 21, suffered injuries to their head, eyes and abdomen after allegedly being beaten up and kicked by the man.

The victims claimed that the incident happened just because they asked the 'Datuk Seri' to remove his Toyota Vellfire MPV parked on the side of the main road as it was causing traffic obstruction.
