Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has reminded the public not to be fooled by the donation drive by Opposition parties.

"The public should realize that Opposition parties only want to pursue popularity and gain sympathy to draw support," he told reporters after launching the second road tunnel from Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim to Sultan Iskandar Highway here, today.

The DAP has its own funds, he said commenting on the RM1 million donation drive launched by Penang DAP for secretary-general Lim Guan Eng who faces two charges of corruption in court.

On June 30, the Penang High Court granted Guan Eng bail of RM1 million with one surety after he pleaded not guilty to two counts of corruption in relation to the conversion of agricultural zone to residential zone and the purchase of lot of land and bungalow at below market price.

Following the case, Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow launched a donation drive to collect money from the public to cover the bail.
