PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar who was ejected from Sabah on Thursday will likely challenge the act towards her in court.
Nurul’s political secretary, Fahmi Fadzil when contacted by Astro Awani said they will bring this matter to court, but have yet to decide on the exact date.
‘I will meet her (Nurul) to discuss on this. She will also issue a statement soon,” he said.
However, efforts to contact Nurul was unsuccessful.
Fahmi also told that a press conference will be held this evening (Friday) about the incident.
Meanwhile, PKR strongly condemned the act by the Sabah Chief Minister’s office in restricting a Member of Parliament (MP) from entering Sabah.
The party described the act as ‘autocratic and undemocratic’.
“As we all know, this incident is not the first and probably not the last.
“Therefore, KEADILAN urges the Sabah Chief Minister’s office to explain why YB Nurul Izzah was barred from entering Sabah, and withdraw that action immediately,” it said in a statement via its Communications Director, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
PKR also urged the Sabah CM office to announce the full list of ‘persona non grata’ in Sabah and the reason why they were put in the list.
Nurul’s lawyer, Darell Leiking also condemned the act, questioning on why a Malaysian was not allowed to celebrate the Kaamatan with the Kadazans there.
“The right of entry is Sabah Government's constitutional right but it should not be abused,” he said.
Leiking who is also the MP for Penampang challenged the Chief Minister and the State Cabinet to explain to the people of Sabah and Malaysia as a whole why this act had happened.
Nurul was also said to be stopped from seeing Darell at the airport before being sent home.
On Thursday, Nurul was stopped by the Sabah Immigration Department and ordered to board home, allegedly on the directives of the Chief Minister’s office.
The PKR vice president was on a trip to celebrate Pesta Keamatan with the people of Sabah arrived at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport and detained at around 7pm.
