Although the remains of high-profile deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais have not been claimed by his family, a memorial service at the Nirvana Memorial Centre in Sungai Besi here went ahead
today.

Over 30 close friends and family members of the deceased attended the 11am ceremony which ended at 5.30pm.

The remains of the former deputy head of appellate and trial division in the Attorney-General's Chambers are still at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN) in Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim was quoted as saying that the police needed a little more time to confirm Kevin's DNA.

Also present on the first day of the three-day ceremony was the deceased's younger brother, Datuk Richard Morais, who declined to be interviewed.

Members of the media were not permitted to be in the room where the memorial was conducted. They were instead, requested to wait in the lobby by the Nirvana management authorities.

Meanwhile, as at 5.45pm, none of Kevin's family members or friends came to IPFN.

Media personnel were also not allowed to enter the IPFN premises and were instructed to wait outside the compound.

The body of Kevin, 55, was found in a concrete-filled drum at Persiaran Subang Mewah, Ampang Jaya near here last Wednesday.

He was reported missing on Sept 4, and was last seen leaving his apartment in Menara Duta here, heading to Putrajaya in a Proton Perdana bearing registration number WA6264Q.
