The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah expressed condolences to the family of former national footballer, V. Krishnasamy, who died yesterday.

In a statement via Istana Negara Facebook, Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed sadness over the passing of the national football legend who had brought glory to the nation in the 70's, and hoped his family members would remain calm as they go through this difficult time.

“We deeply appreciate the deceased’s services and dedication and his passing is a great loss to the nation. His contribution and sacrifices will always be remembered," said the King.

Krishnasamy, who played for Penang, Perak and Prison Department, was called the ‘Iron Man’ during his heydays because he was always eager to get back in the game even after an injury.

He played for the national team from 1970 to 1976 and was the midfielder at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972.
