Rare earth mining company, Lynas Sdn Bhd in Gebeng has submitted its plan or permanent disposal facility (PDF) location to the government for its industrial waste.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin said the proposal is now being evaluated by the relevant ministries and agencies.
"This means that Lynas complied with the prescribed requirements for the operation under temporary operating license (TOL)," he said in reply to a supplementary question by Fuziah Salleh (PKR-Kuantan) in the Dewan Rakyat, today.
The PDF construction was the first requirement that had to be fulfilled by Lynas to enable it to operate although a temporary operating licence (TOL) had been issued by the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB).
According to the requirement, Lynas must submit the PDF or plan to the government within 10 months that expired last Tuesday, despite having claimed that its industrial waste would be fully recycled.
