Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid has proposed that the result slip format for the Form 3 Assessment (P3) be amended in future.

He said currently the front page of the PT3 result slip only showed the academic performance while the psychometrics, co-curricular and sports elements which were School Based Assessment (SBA) components were only shown at the back.

He said by putting the scores of the three components at the back of the result slip, parents would disregard them though they were important criteria in assessing a student's overall achievement.

"As it is the norm to focus on the number of As instead of overall performance, I recommend that the full results be shown on the front page of PT3 result slip in future," he said.

He was asked to comment on steps taken by the ministry to change society's perception of giving emphasis on the number of As in gauging a student's performance.

Earlier, Mahdzir witnessed the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) and the Education Ministry, here Tuesday.

Mahdzir said the proposal had been communicated to the Education director-general Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof for further action.

In addition, he recommended that parents be properly advised on the PT3 concept of holistic assessment instead of focusing merely on academic achievement.

Meanwhile the memorandum of agreement signed by MAMPU director-general Datuk Seri Zainal Rahim Seman and Education Ministry (KPM) secretary-general Datuk Seri Alias Ahmad will see the KPM data centre in Bandar Enstek, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan being upgraded to a Public Sector Data Centre (PDSA).
