A network of display screens will be deployed in public areas throughout the country to counter allegations made against the government, said Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Jailani Johari.

He said the move is seen as a strategic and effective approach in gaining the people's confidence towards the government and also to counter lies spread over the social media that had raised hatred for the country's leadership.

"For a start, this will be carried out in Kuala Lumpur through the INFO2U programme, a government information display programme where information will be projected via a series of screens put up in public areas along public transport routes," he told reporters after launching the INFO2U programme here, today.

Jailani said the INFO2U programme was a collaboration between the Information Department, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.

Meanwhile, Jailani said the amendments to the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and the Communications and Multimedia Commission Act 1998 would be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat this October to address cyber crimes more effectively.
