The new 1Malaysia Negaraku icon was unveiled today as a symbol to strengthen a message and as a platfrom to inculcate national integration.

The new icon, which features the Jalur Gemilang and the word Negaraku, was handed over to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak at the Prime Minister's Office here today.

The handing-over of the icon was witnessed by Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, who is the Special Programme Coordinator to Prime Minister.

Also present were Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad.

The ministry, in a statement, said that "while showing the image of a united and iconic country, the icon will also be a morale booster to all Malaysians to enhance loyalty and commitment to ensuring peace and harmony through 1Malaysia Negaraku."

The official launch of the 1Malaysia Negaraku icon will be held on Aug 23.

The 1Malaysia initiative has been well accepted by all Malaysians from the day it was launched and the icon of 1Malaysia had become the most recognised symbol in the country.

The new 1Malaysia Negaraku logo can be downloaded from the ministry's website at www.kkmm.gov.my.
