The Bahau Magistrate's Court here today fixed Nov 13 for mention of a case involving a trailer driver who was charged with reckless driving which resulted in the death of eight people at Kilometre 25, Jalan Bahau-Keratong on June 11 this year.

Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali set the date following a request by counsel D. Anuratha, representing Norzailan Omar, 44, from Triang, Pahang.

Norzailan was charged under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 with committing the offence at 2.20 pm last June 11.

In the mishap, Osman Mohamed Taip, 31 and his wife, Rosniza Othman, 32, were killed after their vehicle collided with a trailer lorry and two other vehicles.

The couple's 3-year-old son, Muhammad Aliftaqif Osman broke his left hand and sustained head injuries in the incident.

A family of six in a Proton Exora also died in the crash when their vehicle burst into flames.

They were identified as Wan Mohd Fauzi Wan Ibrahim, 51; his wife Mas Noraida M Yusoff, 45 ;and their four children: Wan Muhamad Iskandar, 22; Wan Nor Atirah, 18; Wan Mohamad Amar Haziq, 13; and Wan Nor Alisha, 7.

Deputy public prosecutor Salwati Abdullah prosecuted in the case.

On June 15 at the Jelebu Magistrate's Court, Norzailan pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to the charge.
