She called on the police to analyse the spike in the number of foreigners involved in murder, robbery and gang robbery with firearms in the past three years.

“Has our police authority become toothless tiger in the eyes of foreigners?” she asked.

She said from Jan to August 2014 foreigners committed 167 murders cases or 49.4 per cent of the 338 murders recorded in the country.

In 2012, the numbers were 66 murders, out of the 602 cases recorded.

She said there was also an increase in the number of foreigners involved in robbery with firearms and gang robbery with firearms.

“In the year 2012, there were 110 cases of gang robbery with firearm recorded, and 34 foreigners were involved. However for the first 8 months in 2014, there were 59 cases of gang robbery with firearm recorded and 108 foreigners were involved,” she said in a press statement today.

She said the number of foreigners involved in robbery using firearms has also increased from 29.4% in 2012 to 71.4% in 2014.

“In general, only 1% of the index crime was committed by foreigners in 2012. However, in merely 2 years, their involvement has increased to 11.2% in 2014,” she said.

She added that the police should take take stern action against these criminals.
