PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) will go full steam with its fully electronic toll payments at all its expressways, effective April 26.

Its managing director, Datuk Azman Ismail, said from April 26 onwards, motorists travelling on PLUS highways would have to pay their toll charges using PLUSMiles, Touch 'n Go or SmartTAG, as cash transaction would no longer be accepted.

He said the exercise, which is a continuation of the initiative implemented in stages since 2008, would involve 71 toll plazas between Juru and Skudai.

"Hence, we advise the public to get the PLUSMiles or Touch 'n Go cards at any PLUS customer service centre before April 26.

"The system is much faster than the cash method, with SmartTAG and Touch 'n Go lanes capable of handling up to 1,000 and 600 transactions per hour, respectively," he said in a statement Thursday.

He said currently, 94 per cent of motorists plying the Juru-Skudai stretch paid toll electronically and PLUS would take various steps to ensure smooth journey for the motorists with minimal interference of the electronic system. -- Bernama
