The police deserve bouquets for having ensured the opposition-organised assembly yesterday, was not marred by untoward incidents.

Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the incident-free gathering was a reflection of the capability of the force in having handled the situation well.

Therefore, the public should appreciate the contribution of the police force, he told Bernama here today.

On that note, Lee said the Peaceful Assembly 2012 Act proved that assemblies could be conducted well, if all parties, including the organisers and enforcers, worked together.

On several infringements of conditions, especially in participants bringing along children to the assembly, Lee hoped the police would investigate.
