The police have detained a 28-year-old man to facilitate investigations into the homemade bomb which was found planted on a nurse's car last Saturday.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief ACP Fadzil Ahmat said the man was picked up 3.30 am today at his house in Taman Petaling Indah, Klang near here.

"Upon inspection of the house, police found electronic items and firecrackers believed to have been used in making the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was planted on the nurse's car.

"The suspect also admitted that he is the nurse's ex-boyfriend and that they were having dispute over some financial issues," he said in a statement here.

In the 10 pm incident last Saturday, 27-year-old P. Janagi was on her way home from work when she heard a beeping sound coming from the back of her car.

She then stopped at her uncle's house in Taman Damai in Kapar, Klang before she and her uncle found the device attached to the bumper of the car.

Fadzil said initial investigation revealed that the suspect, who studied electronic engineering at a private college student back in 2006, used to work as a salesman at an electrical store.

The man also had two previous records related to drug and criminal intimidation, he said, adding that the suspect had been remanded for four days to facilitate further investigations under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.
