Two motorcyclists were killed after being involved in an accident involving nine motorcycles and a van at the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) in Singapore this afternoon.

In the crash, the two motorcyclists, believed to be Malaysians, aged 34 and 50, were killed on the spot.

Meanwhile, six others, also believed to be Malaysians who sustained head and body injuries, were sent to the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for treatment.

Video of the accident which went viral on social media showed the victims lying on the highway after they were hit by a van in the 3.50pm incident.

The accident occurred under a flyover north-bound to Woodlands when the group of riders were sheltering from the rain.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) on its Facebook account said a 25-year-old van driver was detained to facilitate investigations.

It said the man's driving licence would be suspended with immediate effect.
