Four Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) researchers made history in the international arena after bagging seven awards at the British Invention Show (BIS) 2014 Exhibition held in London's Barbican Exibition Centre.

The two-day event saw, PhD student Farah Farhana Zainal's research product walked away with three awards.

Faculty of Engineering Technology (FETech) senior lecturer Dr Mohd Mustafa Al Bakri Abdullah made heads turned with his invention of 'Anti Corrosion Coatings' product. His presentation also received the Double Gold Award in the 'Users' category and Double Gold Award in the 'Industry' category.

Environment-friendly products, based on wastes from industrial plants and which serve as corrosion coating, also received a special recognition from the Romanian Inventors Forum (RIF), UniMAP said in a statement, Sunday.

It said the product, 'Intelligent Peripheral Hemodynamic Assessment and Diagnosis Tool' (I-PHAD), produced by a senior lecturer of the School of Engineering (PPK) Mechatronics, Dr Shahriman Abu Bakar, was chosen to receive the Double Gold Award in the design category.

The product also received a special award, EUROINVENT Gold Medal.

In addition, UniMAP received the same award for 'Triple Play Services Zero Cross Correlation' for FTTH OCDMA System' research findings of senior lecturer PPK Computer, Dr Amir Razif Jamil Abdullah.

Meanwhile, Prof Dr Rezuwan Kamaruddin also received a special award from Pro Invention Haller Foundation in Poland, via his innovative finding, 'Greenhouse with Fertigation in the Tropics'.

UniMAP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin was elated with the achievements -- describing the victory as a success for the researchers and management of UniMAP's Centre for Research and Innovation Management.
