Burglars broke into the home of a Utusan Malaysia cameraman in Sungai Petani and escaped with about RM40,000 in goods and cash a few days ago.

The incident occurred while Safrizal Azmi,29, returned to Klang, Selangor on Friday accompanied by his wife, Nazatul Islah Zulkifly, 29, and daughter, Safiyya Soffiya, two. Safrizal said he discovered the burglary after seeing the rented house in Bandar Amanjaya, Sungai Petani, in a mess upon arrival at 11 pm last night.

"I found the back door open and there were signs of tampering on the grille and the door," he said when contacted Wednesday.

Among the items stolen were a Canon DSLR camera, three lenses and flash unit belonging to the company, two laptops and cash amounting to RM2,000.

Safrizal said he also lost two personal cameras, a television set, some jewellery, two coin boxes, three wristwatches, an iPad and a mountain bike.

Meanwhile, Kuala Muda District Police chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa when contacted confirmed the burglary.
