As the world is plagued with the COVID-19 outbreak, many have been forced to restrict their movement and have to practice social distancing as precautionary measures in the fight against the spread of the virus.

Yet, in the midst of it all, the medical personnel keep holding on their noble services and responsibilities in ensuring every patient will be treated in the best manner possible.

In conjunction with the World Doctor's Day today, netizens from all walks of life including country leaders express their appreciation to doctors everywhere.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in a posting on his Facebook account, expressed his appreciation to doctors and thanking all the front liners for their services to the nation.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba also expressed his appreciation on his Facebook page by writing: "Happy World Doctors' Day. Thank you for your service and devotion".

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry, said the doctors' sacrifices has a huge meaning to the country.

"In conjunction with the World Doctors' Day, I would like to express my gratitude to every doctor who works day and night to carry out great responsibilities to serve the country. Their efforts and sacrifices are tremendous for Malaysia. Thank you," he wrote on his Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan posted an image on his Facebook page which said: "Happy Doctors' Day. Thank you for your tireless service, thank you for sacrificing your time and energy, thank you for everything".

He continued by quoting an English proverb 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away' might not be applicable on the current COVID-19 global pandemic.

"Doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers as a whole is the heart of the front liners to help us through this difficult time. Thank you everyone," he wrote.

Apart from the Cabinet ministers, a Facebook user, Ameerah also expressed her appreciation to all doctors in conjunction with the World Doctors' Day.

"Thank you for all your sacrifices, time and energy. Nowadays, even their lives are at stake. They have to leave their families (and) treat the patients in hospitals with great sincerity.

"May Allah protects our national heroes and lifts their spirit as the front liners in the fight against COVID-19," she wrote.

Another Facebook user, Aliyya Adha wrote: 'Happy Doctors' Day! Today, doctors are tested with an extremely high-risk task, in which the Covid-19 infection can easily be transmitted with a single touch.

"No word can describe a doctor's sacrifice towards their patients. It is a noble sacrifice, doctors are our heroes," she wrote.

Meanwhile, a medical doctor Dr Redza Zainol, who is in charge of treating COVID-19 patients, shared his thoughts that the abilities of doctors such as himself, are limited as they are only humans.

"Doctors carry out their responsibilities the best they could. In the current pandemic, (sooner or later) Health Ministry's ability to combat COVID-19 will reach its limit.

"The actual person who can help the healthcare workers to break the chain of COVID-19 is each one of us. Let's stay at home, look after our family and ourselves," he told Bernama.
