Malaysian youth today are an internet generation, embrace multiculturalism, well-informed, outspoken and politically aware but lacking in empowerment.

Aware to this situation, the Malaysian Trailblazers Association aims to harness the power of the youth in trailblazing their future Malaysia by engaging them through the Youth Trailblazer Challenge.

The Youth Trailblazers Challenge 2015 is jointly organised by Persatuan Perintis Malaysia and MAD Incubator together with its working partners-Cradle, CREST, IBM, CIMB Banking Group, MDEC, SME Corp.

This Challenge was officially launched by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Khairy Jamaluddin today.

“Through the YouthTrailblazers Challenge 2015, you will see young Malaysians coming forward with lot of ideas, which we may not have heard even, where the perspective of youths will provide important information,”said Khairy during his speech.

Khairy said this Challenge is a the best platform for youths to generate their innovation ideas and to increase their entrepreneurship skill.

"I think the Youth Trailblazer Challenge is important platform among young Malaysian out there that want to make a different and change in Malaysia."

The event starts with a nationwide Bootcamp roadshow kicking off with Klang Valley, Penang and ending in East Malaysia.

Youth participants will undergo a two-day ideation, and entrepreneurship training with the intention of creating impactful ideas, which will be submitted into the Youth Trailblazers Challenge.

Participants will be given five impact areas – poverty eradication, technology innovation, green environtment, community development and social development – which they will ideate and come out with impactful ideas for the Challenge.

Speaking at the launch today, the Malaysia Trailblazers Association Chairman, Datuk Lawrance Low said the Youth Trailblazers Challenge is an opportunity for youth to put their thoughts together to create impactful ideas that will make a difference in nation building.

“This is an opportunity for them to be empowered and ‘do something’ instead of ‘couldn’t care less’.

The Youth Trailblazer Challenge is the prelude to the 1st ASEAN Youth Leadership and Startup Summit, which to be held in December.
