Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived here Sunday for a four-day visit to the United Kingdom to further enhance bilateral ties, especially on security matters.

Accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, Ahmad Zahid and his delegation were received on arrival at London's Heathrow Airport by Malaysian High Commissioner to the UK, Datuk Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi, and senior Malaysian government officials.

The visit, the first by Ahmad Zahid as DPM, is significant towards enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries on issues of common interest.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, will among others meet UK Home Secretary Theresa May, where they are expected to discuss various issues, including on immigration, transnational crimes, counter- terrorism, human rights and LGBT (Lesbianism, Gay, Bisexuality and Transgenders) within the context of Islam.

The Deputy Prime Minister is also scheduled to attend a dinner with the Malaysian diaspora in Manchester which will see almost 200 Malaysians including students attending.

On the last day of his visit (Wednesday), Ahmad Zahid will deliver the keynote address at the 7th World Chinese Economic Summit (WCES) in London.
