Two popular artistes, 'Bandi Amuk' and 'Ayai Ilusi' have offered themselves to become the campaign ambassadors for the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Johor Baharu Parliamentary constituency in the the 13th general election (GE13).

'Bandi Amuk', real name Nasabandi Jumaat, and 'Ayai Ilusi' (real name Zaharuddin Kamaruddin) said they could woo younger generation voters.

"The participation of both Bandi Amuk and Ayai Ilusi can help draw the younger crowd," former Johor Baharu Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad told reporters at the Johor Baharu Umno division office here today.

Shahrir, who is also Johor Baharu BN election machinery director, said the approach by BN in using celebrities in their campaign was different from that of the opposition which put up artistes as party candidates.

He was referring to the decision of PAS in naming singer Wan Aishah Wan Ariffin for the Jempol parliamentary seat in GE13 , as well as rumours that former singer Dayangku Intan will be Parti Keadilan Rakyat's (PKR) candidate in Pontian.

Meanwhile, Johor Baharu BN election officer Abu Talib Alias said 'Bandi Amuk' and 'Ayai Ilusi' will appear in eight information programmes all over the Johor Baharu constituency during the GE13 campaign.
