PKR's Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and its vice president, Zuraida Kamaruddin have been fired as members effective immediately.

PKR Secretary General, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution says the decision was taken because of the acts of both individuals on Sunday that was considered an open betrayal and can affect the stabilisation of the coalition.

“Due to the open betrayal that is led by a few leaders, it has caused a situation that we believe will jeopardise the PH government.”

“This has impacted the economy and politics as we see today, the ringgit declining. Therefore, PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) has arrived at a consensus that Azmin and Zuraida to be fired as members immediately," Saifuddin said in a press conference here, today.

Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP said both individuals can still request to stay in the party however, it is up to the decision by the Lembaga Rayuan.

He adds, any PKR members who are seen to conspire with Azmin and Zuraida will be handed a show cause letter to explain the lengths of their involvement in the ‘betrayal’ episode.

For the time being, Saifuddin says, MPP have not clarified whether both empty positions must be filled immediately.
