UMNO through the Barisan Nasional (BN) have made suggestions to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in appointing the members of his Cabinet.

BN President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, however, insisted that the proposal was based on a number of fundamentals.

“(This includes) the percentage (ratio-rate) of UMNO and BN's contribution to the formation of the new government. The priority of the proposed names is based on the hierarchy of the key office-bearers in the party,” he said.

He said UMNO and the BN have their full confidence in Muhyiddin as Prime Minister for the appointments that were to be made.

“We give the Prime Minister the confidence to put experienced people from within and outside the party to be appointed to important portfolios.

"This will give the Prime Minister the confidence to form a truly clean, honest and trustworthy government," he said.

Ahmad Zahid at the same time wanted the opportunity to be given to any leader who is facing trial in court to clear their names through the process.

“It provides an opportunity for those who face charges in court to clear themselves through the legal process.

"(The opportunity) for one to clear his name should not be done by dropping court cases through the decision of the Attorney General as what had been done before," Ahmad Zahid added.
