Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today declined to reveal the name of the party's candidate for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election, polling for which is on May 7.

She just smiled when asked whether she herself was one of the shortlisted candidates.

Wan Azizah said an announcement would be made soon.

"On April 14, we will open our operations room. We hope all of you can be patient on the candidate," she told reporters.

The Election Commission today announced May 7 for polling, April 25 for nomination and May 3 for early voting.

The Permatang Pauh seat was declared vacant after the incumbent, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was disqualified as a Member of Parliament on March 16 when the Pardons Board rejected a petition for a royal pardon sought by his family over his conviction for having sodomised his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Anwar is serving a five-year jail sentence at the Sungai Buloh Prison.
