National coach Dollah Salleh wants his boys to pull up their socks and give visiting English Premier League side Liverpool Football Club (LFC) a run for their money and not end up as whipping boys.

Dollah, who has been tasked to lead the Malaysian Selection comprising local and foreign imports playing in the M-League, was confident that the team will give the 'The Reds' a tough fight at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Friday.

"The players must give their best to ensure they don't end up as whipping boys... they just need to go out there and give their best. My only area of concern is team work since they are only together for four days... some only two days," he told reporters after a training session at the National Stadium here Thursday.

He said whether Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers decides to use the main players or reserve team, Liverpool will still be a formidable team and cannot underestimate them.

Meanwhile, Sarawak player Joseph Kallang Tie who is a Chelsea fan hopes to score a goal against 'The Reds' to fulfill a personal dream of scoring against his favourite team's arch rival.

"The match will also provide us (players) an opportunity to gain valuable exposure and learn from the professionals who are world class players," he said.

The Merseyside club started their pre-season tour by gunning down Thai All Stars 4-0 in Bangkok on July 14 before defeating A-League sides, Brisbane Roar 2-1 on Friday and beating Adelaide United 2-0 on Wednesday in Australia.

The Reds will continue their journey to Northern Europe for their last pre-season tour match against Finnish side, HJK Helsinki on Aug 1 at the 10,770 capacity Sonera Stadium in Helsinki.

The last time Liverpool played in Malaysia was in 2011 when former National coach Datuk K. Rajagobal's boys put up a sizzling performance at a sell-out crowd at the National Stadium despite losing 3-6.

To date, about 60,000 tickets priced at RM58 (student), RM88, RM158 and RM228 with a limited number of VIP seats priced at RM428 and RM328, have been sold by the organisers in the stadium that has a capacity of 85,000.
