Fifth seeded Vivian-Khe Wei would face world number five pair of Chritinna Pedersen-Kamilla Rytter Juhl who were placed as second seed in the championship.

Earlier, the national pair was forced to play three sets before ousting Japan's Miki Kashihara-Miyuki Kato, 19-21, 21-16, 21-17 in a second round match.

Meanwhile, the Danish pair beat Japanese pair Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota 21-16, 21-15 at the second round match.

Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying also booked a ticket to the quarter finals when they beat Netherlands Jacco Arends-Selena Piek 21-13, 21-19.

The silver medalist in Rio would face South Korea's mixed doubles of Kim Gi Jung-Shin Seung Chan.

The Koreans had beaten Japan's Kenta Kazuno-Ayane Kurihara, 21-13, 21-15.

However, national men's doubles of Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong lost to Chinese pair of Huang Kaxiang-Wang Wilyu, 21-23, 12-21, and exited the tournament.

Meanwhile, national singles player Datuk Lee Chong Wei advanced to the quarter-finals after beating China's Qiao Bin 21-8, 21-16, who succeeded in passing the qualifying round to advance to the main draw.
