The Kedah Football Association (KFA) has identified several names to replace coach Tan Cheng Hoe who has tendered his resignation.

Its president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said they comprised local and foreign coaches.

"So far, we have discussed two or three names to replace Cheng Hoe, but we do not need to mention them yet," he told reporters after chairing the weekly state executive council meeting at Wisma Darulaman here today.

Ahmad Bashah, who is also Kedah Menteri Besar, said so far negotiations were still going on with the potential candidates and the selected coach will be announced when KFA had decided.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Bashah said so far KFA has not made a decision to release Cheng Hoe.

"So far, a decision has not been made and he is still our coach as there are many matches coming up and several matters have to be settled," he said.

At the same tine, Ahmad Bashah wanted the appointment of the new coach to be made quickly before Cheng Hoe begins his duty as the national squad's assistant coach.

In this regard, KFA honorary secretary Datuk Aminuddin Omar said the issue was expected to be resolved by mid-May. -- Bernama
