Squash queen and world number one, Datuk Nicol Ann David claimed her seventh World Squash Association (WSA) World Series title after winning the Hong Kong Open.

In the final match held at the Hong Kong Squash Centre yesterday, the 30-year Penangite outclassed world number three player, Raneem El Weleily with a 11-7, 11-7 and 12-10 to win in just 35 minute.

On her victory, Nicol who is also seven times world champion said the match was really tough especially at the end of the third games but she managed to hold her nerve to beat the Egyptian player.

"I was lucky enough to get a couple of errors at the end, but it was so close all the way through each of the games. I was on the back foot for most of the third, so I’m really pleased to get through three-nil!

"I can’t believe that I’ve won here again, it’s just amazing, Hong Kong is a lucky charm for me and the support from the crowd is fantastic!

"It’s always a great feeling coming back to where I won my first World Open title, and that spurs me on every time I come here," Nicol was quoted as saying in the tournament website www.squashsite.co.uk.

Nicol has won the Hong Kong Open since 2006 beside bagging six titles this season -- World Series Finals in England, World Games in Colombia, Malaysian Open, Carol Weymuller Open and the United States Open and the China Open.
