Kedah coach Tan Cheng Hoe today confirmed sending his resignation letter as the Red Eagle team coach to the Kedah Football Association (KFA) on April 1.

When contacted by Bernama, Tan said he handed the letter to the KFA management and was now waiting for a reply from the association.

Tan, who had enabled Kedah to emerge as the Malaysia Cup champion last season, had been rumoured to be appointed as the assistant coach for the Harimau Malaysia team.

He was said to be the choice of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim to assist Mario Gomez who was appointed on March 25.

Since his appointment as the Kedah coach in 2014, the state had emerged champion in the Malaysia Cup tournament in the last season, and in the Super League championship this season, Kedah heads the table with 18 points gained from eight matches.
