Hotel Seri Malaysia here is keeping to its practice of distributing free bubur lambuk (beef porridge) during the fasting month for the past 20 years.

Hotel executive assistant manager, R. Ravindran said the hotel would prepare 300 packets of the delicious porridge to be distributed to the people from 5pm daily during Ramadan under its community caring programme.

"It is the 20th year we are carrying out this tradition. Each day, our chef Azhar Hussin and two assistants cook two big pots of porridge with 20 kg of rice contributed by several well-wishers.

"Preparations for the dish begin at noon and the delicacy will be ready by 4pm before it is distributed to the community," he told Bernama here.

He said the reception had been exceptional as the people would start queuing up at 4.30pm before the porridge was all given out in 15 to 20 minutes.
