After the tail of AirAsia QZ8501 was successfully lifted Saturday, the search and rescue (SAR) team has identified the position of the black box based on the signal received by three search vessels, Detik.com reported.
“The signal was received at approximately one-km East near the recovery of the tail,” said the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) Republic of Indonesia director, Supriyadi near Pangkalan Bun, Sunday.
It was also reported that search will be fully focused in the recovery of the plane’s fuselage.
“After a thorough observation, we will mobilise our divers from KN Pacitan rescue vessel to the three ships, said Supriyadi, referring to the ships namely Baruna Jaya, Java Interior and GeoSurvey ships.
The report also stated that the signal from the black box was emitted at the depth of 30-metres.
Apart from that, a new discovery believed to be debris from the plane had surfaced. The debris had just been brought in from the Utar Kumai Naval Base by Trisula ship.
Meanwhile, AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has also tweeted on the possibility of the retrieval of the black box.
