QZ8501: Seven bodies recovered so far, 130 ambulance on standby

About 130 ambulances are on standby at the Juanda Airport, Surabaya, to carry the bodies of AirAsia flight QZ8501 victims that were recovered today. Foto EPA/MADE NAGI
Another body has been recovered on the fourth day of the search and recovery effort of AirAsia flight QZ8501 bringing the total to seven bodies so far.

According to Tribunnews, President Director of Angkasa Pura 1, Tommy Soetomo about 130 ambulances are currently on standby at the Juanda Airport, Surabaya, to carry the victims' bodies to the Bhayangkara hospital in Surabaya for identification process.
“The weather in Pangkalan Bun is not good, hope the search and rescue process will run smoothly,” said Tommy to Tribunnews.
It was also reported that 30 families of the QZ8501 passengers have submitted their DNA sample while 93 other families gave the personal details of the victims.

CNN meanwhile reported that sonar equipment used by the Indonesian searchers has detected wreckage of the plane at the bottom of the Java Sea.
An SAR official, Hernato however said it was unclear if the aircraft remains to be in one piece or have broken up.
Those on board flight QZ8501, an Airbus A320-200, comprise 155 Indonesians, three South Koreans, a Singaporean, a Malaysian, a Briton and a French.
The flight reportedly lost contact about 42 minutes after taking off from Surabaya at 5.35am (local time) and was scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 8.30am.
