While many grew fond of the series with its fourth season recently aired on November 15, the royal family itself was not impressed.
A British media cited sources close to the Buckingham palace having said that Prince Charles has been wildly misinterpreted in the series and that it was more fiction than facts.
Prince Charles has also been reported to not have watched the show himself while his spokesman has declined to comment on the royal family’s verdict of the show.
Winner of the Emmy Awards and Golden Globe, the Crown is a fictionalised historical drama, portraying the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in 1947 up till the early 21st century. While the series detail real events that shaped the second half of the twentieth century, the show’s dialogues are fictional.
The latest episodes feature the infamous affair between Prince Charles and Camilla at the expense of Princess Diana. The incident unfortunately was not painted in a good light.
Following the premiere of the new season, fans of The Crown have also taken to the official social media accounts for the Royal Family to express their thoughts on the whole ordeal.
So much so that the official Twitter account of Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla, @ClarenceHouse has had to restrict comments in the wake of tons of hate comments coming from people who have watched the show.
