Overall flood situation in Thailand improves but some provinces remain critical

Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said the overall flood situation in Thailand has improved and the government had directed the relevant authorities to inspect the impact of the flood on the people.
Yingluck is scheduled to visit sites affected by floods in the East region today at noon, after her weekly cabinet meeting, here.
She is expected to visit the districts of Bansang in Prachinburi province and Bangkla and Bangnampraew districts in Chacherngsao province.
Floods in Thailand has caused 42 fatalities and it affected 42 of the country's 77 provinces while flood waters have receded in 19 provinces.
The floods affected 5.65 per cent of Thailand's total population with 1.111 million families comprising 3.640 million people affected.
It damaged 569,600 hectares of cultivated fields, 5,930 roads, 299 bridges, 287 schools, 444 temples and 61 government offices, according to the country's Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department Monday.
