Perkara itu dimaklumkan Amitabh menerusi satu muat naik di akaun twitternya.

Menurut aktor itu, dia kini ditempatkan di wad sebuah hospital.

Selang 44 minit kemudian, anaknya Abhishek, 44, memaklumkan menerusi Twitter bahawa dia turut dijangkiti virus berbahaya itu.

Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you.

"Kami berdua mengalami simptom ringan dan dimasukkan ke hospital.

Katanya lagi, pihak berkaitan sudah dimaklumkan mengenai perkembangan ini dan menurut Bachchan, keluarga rapat turut diminta menjalani saringan.
