FFM28: 'Jagat' bags Best Film, 'Munafik' sweeps Best National Film

Munafik, the horror flick directed by Syamsul Yusof Datuk Yusof Haslam bagged the Best National Film at the 28th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM28) held at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, here tonight.
Tamil language film, Jagat sprang a sweet surprise after it was named Best Film while its director, Shanjey Kumar Perumal was named the Best New Director
Syamsul Yusof bagged both the Best Director and Best Editing awards for his work in Munafik.
The film's leading actress, Nabila Huda was named Best Actress for her convincing portrayal of Maria, the possessed young girl seeking to be freed from sleepless nights caused by bizarre premonitions.
Pekin Ibrahim was named Best Actor for his performance in the fast-paced Mat Moto: (Kami Mat Moto Bukan Mat Rempit). The movie marked Pekin's directorial debut.
Astro Shaw's Polis Evo received the Special Jury Award for the Box-office Film Award for busting the box-office collection with a staggering RM17.4 million.
Iconic film director, Deddy M Borhan, synonymous for his directorial -- including the 1975 Keluarga Comat, Hapuslah Aimatamu and Azura was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Hosted by comedienne Sherry Alhadad and comedian, Nabil Ahmad, the award ceremony saw performances by Dayang Nurfaizah, Jaclyn Victor, Man Bai, Maman of the now-defunct, Teacher's Pet and more.
