John Malkovich to star in 'Humboldt' crime drama

JOHN Malkovich is set to star in the crime drama "Humboldt," reports Deadline, which will air on premium cable and streaming platforms.

The series is inspired by Emily Brady's best-selling nonfiction book, "Humboldt: Life on America's Marijuana Frontier," which delves into one Northern California community that has lived off the cultivation and sale of marijuana for the last 40 years.

Malkovich will star as the father of a California crime family.

Next up for Malkovich are roles in feature films "Deepwater Horizon" and "Valley of the Gods."
