American singer-songwriter claimed she was threatened with imprisonment if she continued with her concert in Malaysia.
“To be clear. I did not cancel. I was not allowed to play. And I was threatened with imprisonment,” she said via Twitter yesterday.
She continued to express her sadness on Twitter earlier today.
"Yesterday was hard for me. I just wanna share my music and life with you guys. Can't wait to let you know more in 4 days," she tweeted.

to be clear. I did NOT cancel. I was not allowed to play. and then I was going to play anyways and was threatened with imprisonment.

Livescape PR head Jason Kong said that the singer had approached the organiser on what would happen if she continued with the show.
“We told her we were against it because the authorities would shut down the show. I don’t know where the imprisonment (part) came from. I don’t think anyone from the Government was in touch with her. I think it was a tweet of frustration (from her),” Kong was quoted in The Star Online.
Earlier, US pop singer Ke$ha has been forced to cancel a concert due to take place in Malaysia on Saturday after authorities said it would undermine religious and cultural sensitivities.
"We are distraught to confirm that the show (at Kuala Lumpur stadium) will be cancelled," concert organiser Livescape said in a statement, adding that it was losing 1.1 million ringgit ($350,000) due to the ban.
