Although netizens were generally excited to see Tyler Hoechlin take on the iconic roles, some thought it would go to Tom Welling.

For Teen Wolf actor Tyler Hoechlin, the opportunity to play the iconic role in the second season of television series ‘Supergirl’.
This was confirmed by the actor on his Twitter account, citing that 'he is honoured and humbled' to land himself the meaty role of the much-loved DC Comic character.
Understandably, Netizens were excited that Hoechlin was chosen to play the character.
Nevertheless, some were left a tad disappointed. Some were pining for Tom Welling to take on the role as he previously played Clark Kent in another television series, Smallville.
