1MDB: Police to study PAC report before calling in Shahrol

PAC said there were constraints and weaknesses by the management, led by Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim.
Police will study the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) which was tabled at the Parliament last week before deciding if they need to call in former CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi for questioning.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police need time to go through the 106-pages report and said will be making a statement once it is ready.
“It is a 106-page report. We need some time to go through it,” he said at a press conference today.
He said the police will only call up Shahrol if they need further information.
On Thursday, the PAC had tabled its report on 1MDB at the Parliament. Among others, the PAC suggested that authorities probe Shahrol and those related for the company’s financial state.
In the report, PAC also suggested that 1MDB should change all references to the Prime Minister to Finance Minister.
The PAC also found no evidence to indicate any wrongdoing or abuse of power by the Prime Minister in relation to 1MDB.
Shortly after the PAC released it's findings, the Board of Directors of 1Malaysia Development Berhad offered their resignation to MoF Inc., the 100% shareholder of 1MDB.
PAC began probing 1MDB in May last year focusing on its governance control management since it was incorporated in 2009 -- after the Terengganu Investment Authority state fund -- was turned into a federal agency.
